A user reported an error message they had received while attempting to distribute a single FSlogix AppMasking Rule from one VDA to 30+ others. The potential cause of the issue was suggested to be the number of concurrent file sharing connections being limited in Windows desktop OS as a license limit. The ControlUp support team requested some additional information to investigate the issue. The user mentioned they used an SMB share to host their FSlogix rules and GPOs, and copy them locally during gpupdate.

Hey gang. we’re running 8.6.5.427 and i’m trying to ‘distribute’ a single fslogix appmasking rule from one VDA to 30+ others. when i execute the distribute cmd a lot of VDA error out stating: "no more connections can be made to this remote computer….. becuase there are already as many connections as the computer can accept". anyone seen this? it’s a very useful feature when working
Never seen this and use „Send Files here“ to lots of destinations simultaneously…
Regarding AppMasking Rules, do you know BIS-F?
There is an option to copy rules from an SMB share during personalization phase (startup).
Yes sir and we use that. In our case we use mcs and it doesn’t make sense to have to reimagine or reboot in the middle of a work day. CU is a great use case here but not sure why some succeed and some fail for just distributing a single file.
Hi Matt. I would like to help you with this error message. Please send in a request to support@controlup.com so that we can get one of our team to review this with you.
Is the source or destination a desktop operating system? Windows desktop OS limits (among others) concurrent file sharing connections. This is a license limit imposed by windows. I guess to prevent you from using a desktop OS as a file server.
We use an SMB share to host all of our fslogix rules and GPOs to copy them locally during gpupdate.
