The user’s local IOP data disk was nearly full, so they asked for advice. It was suggested to change the default settings for Splunk indexes to reduce the current size, with care as this will affect the time they can go back for specific metrics. The user also asked about the ActivityFiles folder, which will fill up until there is less than 10% free and then start purging old files. The user then mentioned they were planning to upgrade to IOP 8.7, which has a Data Retention Policy.

Hi guys,
My local IOP data disk is nearly full and i need to clean up som IOP history data,IOP version is 8.6.5 , what should i do?
If there is no chance to extend the data drive there is another option…
AFAIR with 8.6.5 you dont have access to the splunk indexes via IOP Menu…
Currently the default settings for the indexes are quite huge in my eyes (4 TB)…
You can change them in the splunk backend.
Switch to the URL and make sure to change "" accordingly:
https://:8000/iop_ui/en-US/manager/search/data/indexes
Sort the table by "Current Size" and I think you will see "processes_iop" on top 🙂
Edit the top index and reduce "Max SIze of Entire Index" according to your needs.
It will instantly shrink the data!
CAUTION
This will reduce the time you can go back for that specific metrics!!!
Are you referring to the ActivityFiles folder on the monitors? If so these will fill up until there is less than 10% free and then it will start purging old files.
Thank very much , my current disk capacity is 2TB,i am planning to upgrade to 8.7,because 8.7 have Data Retention Policy .
