A user experiencing issues with their two Netscalers asked for help. They were advised to check their monitor settings, data sources tab, credentials, and run a test-netconnection. The user detected a firewall issue, used the shared credentials and saw data in the web portal. They then asked help with their email trigger when the primary/secondary flip not working.

Everything is working well for us except our 2 Netscalers we are seeing no data for some reason . something simple we missed maybe? our account teams added licensing last week i’m told so maybe i just need to be patient?
Check your monitor settings and make sure they are connected.
yup all looks fine
Check the data sources tab.
Drill down to the NetScalers and click show.
Appears to be a credential issue.
so just as you said that i saw that too and noticed the 2 werent connected. all i did was right click – connect and they are connected now in the console….i’m checking the data sources again now
Console doesn’t matter
Its the monitors that feed solve, not the console.
ahhh ok so i have to add netscaler creds in the monitor creds then
You have a 3 letter service account that the monitors are using to attempt to connect. This credentials need its password set.
Yes, in the monitor settings.
And the box for SHARED should be checked.
In the NetScaler “connection settings” you should use the SHARED credential.
so the shared creds seem to validate on one of my monitor servers but not the other (a new one we just created thats working for other stuff but not for this)
Credentials are not validated on any particular monitor. Its a global setting.
so do i not need both monitor servers in this list then? and just use the one that it likes right now?
Those are data collectors. But for a customer your size we typically use the monitors. Cursor over the red X to get the error message.
And can both monitors access that NetScaler on port 80? No firewalls?
the other monitor server seems to access it ok though
Try a test-netconnection from the monitor.
In powershell run “test-netconnection YourNetScalerName -port 80”
ok yup must be something there…..getting ping timeouts on this new one
BUT changing to the shared creds i do see stuff in the web portal now so thank you for the help!
figured out the test-netconnection issue too (firewall issue ) so all good on both! thanks for the help! now just to figure out why my email trigger when the primary/secondary flip isnt working and i’ll be in good shape
