A user needed help setting up a trigger and alert to detect a stolen device that may come back online. It was suggested to use the device_status, CPU, and device name to limit alerts and test it with another machine first. Similar guidance was also provided by the team.

not sure who can help with this. I have a customer that had someone steal money and flee the country, now they are on the run. I need to get alerted when this machine comes back online with ControlUp. Any way I can write a trigger and alert to do this?
Many data points get updated when the agent launches, so it shouldn’t be hard to set a trigger on a variety of them. E.g. you can do device_status and do CPU > 1 and device name matching the device name
Set number of hits to 1
Not at my desk so doing this from the top of my head. There’s many other fields that will update when it comes online
ok nice thanks. good place to start
Test it with another machine first I suggest. But make sure you limit it by device name, because otherwise you’ll get thousands of alerts (if using a really know threshold)
ha yeah for sure
Double checked on our side and got very similar guidance. Let us know how it works out
