The IOP team is looking at upgrading Splunk to a version 9+ after a customer’s security scan revealed multiple vulnerabilities for versions below 9.x. In the meantime, exceptions have been put in place. IOP is a Splunk OEM product and cannot be incorporated into another Splunk solution, and multiple support requests have been sent as well. Ref #132898.

Are there any plans to upgrade splunk to a version 9+?
A security scan at a customer going crazy because of "multiple vulnerabilities" on splunk enterprise below 9.x 😞
It’s being reviewed internally AFAIK. Splunk changes quite a bit between minor versions and the IOP team are looking into it – no ETA yet from what I know.
Thank you sir. I guess I’ll route the customer to support to make it more official…
Ref # internally to handover is 132898
We have the same issue. We’ll put exceptions in place until we can get a new version. Related question, is Insights always a stand-alone product or could we incorporate it into an enterprise Splunk solution?
IOP is Splunk OEM product and cannot be integrated into another Splunk solution.
I shot a mail to support with the ref number Yair mentioned. Maybe its helpful that you do the same? 🙂
The more the better I assume…
