A user asked if they can use Controlup to call and run an executable or script on a Mac. The product manager said they will open a support ticket and share their ideas with the Product Manager for Edge DX. The team suggested a workaround of using Bash as the script language but starting Script with #!/usr/bin/env swift.

Good day
Can i use controlup to call / run another script or exactable that is on a mac ?
EG , i have a swift program i wrote that is on all our macos devices , that i can send custom messages to users
i just want to know , can i use controlup to use that app as well
reason why i asking is , if i run the script to call the notification app locally on the device then i works fine , but when i use the same scrip and try to run it via controluop , noting happens
Hey Eugene, let me check internally about this. I know this works on windows with Powershell and toast messages but obviously there could be something in macOS that is more restrictive
@member
thank you
So all i want to do is call another excitable or even script
Eugene, are you running the script as root or as the user?
Apparently there might be a bug in our UI. Our team said "You need to select bash as the script language but start the script with #!/usr/bin/env swift"
as a workaround for now
Can you try that?
Yes, im running as root
im truing to run a bash script (not swfit )
Can you please open a support ticket. Our mac specialist are at an offsite meeting this week, but will look into it further when they returned. Having a ticket in our system will help with follow up
Sure will do
Would love to chat to the Mac specialist, have a lot of ideas
He’s not in this slack, but feel free to share your ideas with @member who is the Product Manager for Edge DX
Awesome thanks
