Can ControlUp Insight Access be Linked to AD Groups?

Posted on November 11, 2022

A user asked if it was possible to grant Insight access to users associated with groups in AD, similar to how Console access is granted. It was confirmed that access must be granted on a per user basis and that ControlUp is working on a new service including OAuth and Azure AD group integration.

Read the entire ‘Can Insight Access be Linked to AD Groups?’ thread below:

Am i being stupid or is there no way to link insight access to groups in AD like you can the controlup Console? I wanted to set it up consistently through levels but weird it looks like you can only do per user basis of people that are registered to use the console

Hi,

In order for a user to access Insights, he must register as a console user.

If you go in the console at the top pane to ControlUp Insights -> User Permission, you’ll see the organization members and allow per user access. You can also check the checkbox there to set that every new user will have Insights access.

In regards to creating user accounts for users that do no access the RT console, you can do so via Solve settings section by uploading a CSV with the needed details and our backend will create those users on our (CU) end.

Hi , you are not stupid at all… currently Insights access is indeed based on ControlUp accounts (e.g. CU account email) and does not support any AD / AD group integration.

We are working on a new login service that will include (at some point) support for Azure AD, both for OAuth and proper Azure AD group integration. this will take a while though, for now, you must use per user access to InsightsAH perfect thanks guys i thought so!
