The Citrix client mentioned in the Release Notes page is the Remote DX Plugin. When uninstalling this plugin, all remote sessions (including RDP, ICA, and Virtual Channel) must be closed otherwise the uninstall will be aborted. It is a known issue and it is recommended to close all these sessions before uninstalling. The release notes will be updated soon.

I have a question about one listed known issue of the Remote DX version 2.4.0.43 on the release notes page:
"Uninstalling the Citrix client fails if there are any open RDP sessions. To uninstall the Citrix Client, you must first close all RDP sessions."
Is it correct that just RDP Sessions are affected but no ICA Sessions or does it mean that any kind of remote session (ICA, RDP, etc.) is affected?
I haven’t double checked but since the article is talking about the Citrix client (aka Receiver/workspace app), I’d not try to uninstall it while a ICA session is opened.
@member can you please confirm?
Hi @member,
We saw that sometimes RDP sessions are preventing the OS fom deleting the old version files.
There is no fallback except if the sessions are open then the uninstall will be aborted.
It is recommended to close all sessions including ICA, because if the Virtual Channel is using the files you will not be able to delete the files
The Citrix client mention here is the Remote DX plugin
I’m sorry for not been clear.
We will fix the release note ASAP
Thanks @member!
Thanks for clarification! Therefore, it’s a bad known issue 😕
As far as i know, the older setups are able to uninstall/update the plugin while having open ICA sessions, but the changes will be applied later. We have to look into that more detailed.
Please let me know if you are experiencing any issues and we will try to fix them.
Thank you!
