The discussion provided an audit answer to the question of if the WMI APIs are used to manage virtual network resources. ControlUp usually uses them sparingly, such as for GPU data collection, but not for Monitor. A Script Action at https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/show-local-wmi-activity/ can be used to trace which process uses which WMI query.

Audit question: Are WMI APIs used to manage virtual network resources?
Depending upon what they mean by "virtual Network resources" does ControlUp use WMI APIs to monitor anything?
yes. Though where possible they are used sparingly. IE when GPU data was still limited to nvidia, static information like GPU profile used, license server used, etc was collected via WMI. But only once.
Where GPU performance data (again, when we were limited to nvidia only) we used a native API.
I’m not sure we have a complete list. But there is a script action that can trace which process uses which WMI query. https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/show-local-wmi-activity/
So its safe to say teh CU agent and Monitor use WMI / APIs?
Agent yes. Monitor, pretty unlikely
