Users have experienced poor performance when using ControlUp Remote DX on virtual machines, and wondered if others have had similar issues. It was suggested that they try RDP on a physical machine to test the issue, and to use LDAP or SAML with Solve instead of VNCing through a jump-box. As a workaround, users can minimize their VM for the app they need, which is a little inconvenient, but can make their lives easier.

Anybody using RemoteDX from a VM for remote control? We’ve noticed performance in that scenario is terrible during the remote control session. Doesn’t matter if it’s ICA or RDP. Support says while it is supported, they’d recommend using physical machines for this, however we utilize VMs for "privileged access" and jumping in and out of a session for different functions is a bit… inconvenient.
We’re planning on testing RDPing to a physical machine to try and understand if it’s unique to our virtual environment or if it’s just remote protocols in general not handling it well… Just curious if others have similar experiences!
Remote control in EdgeDX is based on VNC. That said your probably double hopping and I would suspect trying to VNC into something would see similar results from the same machine. I know this doesn’t give you answers but may lead you to understand why this probably isn’t the best solution. Any reason why you just don’t launch solve from the "first" hop or machine? Solve is not dependent on the "admin" jumpbox.
Assuming you enabled LDAP or preferably SAML in Solve you should be able to use it from the client device and not the jump box VDI machine. Thanks Landon!
That’s definitely our workaround right now, it’s just a little inconvenient. Our guys primarily do all their "admin" work inside of the VM, lots of them use it full-screen and having to minimize their VM for one app is just a little inconvenient. Certainly not a deal-breaker, we’re just trying to make their lives a little easier!
