There is a discussion about exporting Edge users and roles to DEX, with the suggestion to recreate them or set up SAML for automatic user provisioning. More customization is available through DEX, such as targeting device groups and tags for user permissions. An option to assign permissions based on user groups in an IdP is also mentioned.

Is there a way to export our Edge users and roles and import them into DEX or do I need to recreate them?
During the migration all users should be migrated automatically
No they’re not migrated, you need to reinvite them or better setup saml (you do get a box once to invite existing users but they will have to create new accounts)
You do get a pop up in the beginning once you migrate to import the users ^_^
The pop-up while you upgrade to DEX is to send an invitation to people who have used Solve. After accepting the invite, they must create a new account in DEX. But as Wouter said, if you are going to use SAML, then you don’t need to manually invite users anyways since their accounts can be automatically provisioned when they sign in to DEX for the first time.
The roles are not imported at all and you must recreate them in DEX. With DEX you get more customization over user permissions (such as setting the scope of a permission by targeting Edge DX device groups and tags).
If you are using SAML, then you can also use assign permissions based on user groups in your IdP so that you don’t have to manually assign roles to each individual user.
