A user asked a question about adding users to a ControlUp setup, with the question of whether it needs to be done via the Login Setup screen in version 8.7 or if it can be done through adding people to an AD group. In order to do this, users need to be added manually. However, ControlUp is working on enhancing its Solve/SAML integration, which will enable new users to be auto created as needed. This would be done with the new DEX platform/login when configured to use SAML. ControlUp will keep @member updated on its progress with the DEX platform.

Hey all, just a quick one hopefully. To get any new users added to our CU setup, with version 8.7 do I need to add them all via the Login Setup screen? Just as previously we just needed to add them to an AD group that had permissions/a role assigned.
Just wondering as I’m giving my Service Desk access and from my experience, the turnover in the SD can be high so if someone needs to individually add them every time someone new joins it could get annoying
yep, they need to be added manually. might be able to add it via solve using CSV file but that is also a manual process
Pretty annoying that. I like the fact we can do it and can now remove users too but annoying if there is high turnover of staff
usually, this is a first part to it, as the move more to solve i think this will get better
but on on the Controlup people could tell me i’m missing a trick hehe would not be the first time
Solve is the focus and the future of realtime. We should be releasing a new login flow with our new DEX fabric shortly. This should simplify the login to all the products (Solve, Edge, Scoutbees) without the need for a monitor. That said I don’t think anything will change with the enhanced security put around the config console.
Hi @member , as @member rightly said, Solve / Web console is the way to go and already a good fit for tier 1 / Helpdesk users. Currently, we have the manual Add Solve users screen via a CSV file. We are now working on enhancing our Solve / SAML integration, so when working with SAML, new users will be auto created as needed, so it’s a fully automated process
So I suggest two things – moving to Solve as the main interface, and enable SAML login for Solve

@member correct me if I am wrong. You still need to add them to solve manually. Can be just an AD group, but Still the same overhead or am I missing something
Currently today you have to have ControlUp “accounts” in the cloud and the only way to do this is sign up from the config console or upload the CSV data in Solve. In the future with the DEX platform/login if you configure SAML this process of creating an account would be fully automated.
