A user asked if they could create a blacklist of applications in Edge Dx. It is not currently possible to prevent applications from launching in this way, however, scripts and alerts can be used to detect and remove forbidden applications. An alert template for this can be deployed with Edge Dx, as well as AppLocker registry keys.

Hi, every! Can I create a blacklist of applications in Edge Dx? I tried different ways and it didn’t work 🙁
Hi @member What do you want to achieve with this blacklist? That those application can no longer be launched?
Hi, Peter! I need to block an installation of an application, example: Do not allow the installation of VLC on the endpoint.
Right now, this can only be done with scripts and alerts. But to prevent actually from launching is gonna be tricky
oh, ok! Do you have a template of alert for this case?
We cannot prevent amything from launcging, but we could set a trigger that when setup.exe is launched (is visible in process_stops table), run a script to check for forbudden apps and remove them.
but you could deploy applocker registry keys with edge dx 😉
