The user was trying to set up an Alert, but could not get desired results. Following advice from others, it was suggested to use "like" instead of "=" for anything Event_, set the event source as "cu agent" and make sure to collect the event. Changing "=" to "contains" did the job. For future reference, it was asked why "contains" should be used for event logs.

I’ve been trying to setup a simple Alert and I seem to be doing something wrong.
I can go into the event log report and see events I’m looking for that I think should have triggered but not getting anything.
What do you think I am missing?
For anything "event_" try "like" not "=". See if that helps.
I think the event source shouldn’t be error but something like cu agent.
Make sure you collect the event.
And also wat Landon says 🙂
So set that up, check what the event source is from the events index and build the alert againI do have it collecting the event.
Event_source was Application Error in the index.
Changed = to contains and that seemed to do it. I assume there is no error logs that’d help explain why this had failed somewhere yea?
Is there a reason why it should be contains for event logs for future reference?
