A user is looking to use CU to monitor their CA server for specific failed events, and wants to know if the trigger will work for each event. The trigger will only work for Warning or Error events, and one way to test it is by using a PowerShell script to generate a similar event on a machine with the CU agent installed. The script to create a test event is also provided. The event source must be created first if it does not already exist.

I’m looking to use CU to monitor our CA server for specific failed events which will then log an alert in our ticketing system.
I’ve attached an image of the criteria specified but am I right in thinking that this will trigger and alert for each failed event that occurs?
indeed. but only if this event is a Warning or Error event (as we do not monitor Information level events)
one quick way your trigger – on the relevant machine (with CU agent installed and connected to the Monitor Cluster), use a PowerShell script to generate a similar event and see if you get the alert
“`# Ensure the event source exists; if not, create it
$source = "CertificationAuthority"
if (-not [System.Diagnostics.EventLog]::SourceExists($source)) {
New-EventLog -LogName Application -Source $source
}
Create a test event
$eventID = 22
$message = "This is a test event entry for event ID 22."
Write-EventLog -LogName Application -Source $source -EventID $eventID -EntryType Information -Message $message“`
