The user had issues with the 8.8 release of IOP Nodes and asked about the latest version. They confirmed that the version they had was the latest, and reported that it was broken and communications errors were present. Other users mentioned that 8.7 had issues with hyphens in server names and that CUADMIN is no longer used in 8.8. Backing-up the ‘C:\program files\Smart-x’ folder was recommended, and the user was suggested to wait for more information. All users thanked each other for their help.

With the new 8.8 release I did some updates and noticed that with the IOP Nodes there are a few issues.
Before I drop a bunch of issues I’m wondering if the version that I downloaded is still the latest?
iop12c-8.8.0.904.9.5-u1.ova
if not, where to download the latest version?
I can confirm that is the latest version
hmm ok. Well it’s kinda broken out of the box.
root and cuadmin password are randomized during boot so the provided password is not valid to logon.
Admin does match.
Backend options show communication errors. After setting the cuadmin password it fixed that part but breaks other stuff.
On the other hand 8.7 runs like a charm straight after import and boot.
It’s not a buggy deploy as I tested it several time on different environments.
Got a session with support this afternoon hopefully something shows up. Will drop an update here if so.
Hello,
Thanks for the update @member: I plan an upgrade to 8.8 too, if you have some tips after your session I’ll be happy to read about 😉
I remember that Solve on 8.7 had issues with hyphens in the server’s name.
@member the hypens I know, had the same issue. Also with servernames for the COP you should not use it as the LDS breaks on it as well. (Bug on MS side).
For the update of the COP server make sure you backup your server settings folder under c:\program files\Smart-x as this folder was completly gone after a successful upgrade.
I launched the console and was no longer authorized. Turns out the folder was empty. Restoring from the copy fixed it.
Still got a sanity check session scheduled for that tomorrow.
For the IOPS I suggest you wait.
Out of the box it has issues communication between the nodes. CUADMIN is no longer used in 8.8 said support today. But the account still exists and gets a random password during setup.
If you set this identical on all nodes it fixes some issues on the Disk Management view. BUT breaks stuff on the Services and Resources view.
Still ongoing with support trying to figure out what’s the rootcause.
Thank you for all of these information. Very precious help ! 👍
