A user asked for assistance in keeping inactive devices in quarantine for 30 days before disabling them and removing user access. Another user suggested checking the status of the device via API and sending notifications to relevant parties. There was also a suggestion to use an automated action to create a tag in the Edge DX portal. The conversation also included suggestions for using a script, but it was noted that this may not work if the device is not checking in. Other users requested a sample script for handling tags.

Hello folks,
Good Day!
Looking for some quick update:
We want to keep all the devices in the quarantine list which are not active for more than 30 days.
post that we can disable the device and remove user access with some preventive measures like sending notifications to users and managers.
Can someone assist how can we achieve this ?
Is this for Edge DX ?
Yes, Our environment only uses Edge DX, hence exploring this solution feasibility.
Quarantine is that device that have been offline for 30 + days ?
You are right
I do not believe that there is something natively that is in CU that could do it , perhaps someone in team can fact check me
But what you can do is ( something that I’m looking at now ) you can via APi check the status of the device last user signed in and based on that info and importing / connecting your own data ( managers info and HR info ) and then send a email to them that this device is offline or not in use
might be able to us an automated action that creates a tag that can then be grouped in Edge dx portal?
I’m currently looking at doing this and moving devices to device groups using API
kinda snap
if you want a sample script to handle tags let me know. Thing is if the device isn’t checking in current script will work for the machines but it will never see the new tags
please share
