The user asked if there is a script to close and delete the cache and cookies on the Microsoft Edge browser, and it was suggested that it is possible, with a link provided to the necessary folders. Clearing the folders is not always simple, as other software may use msedge.exe in the background, so users should be notified before making any changes. A possible solution is being worked on that would send a notification to the user to say the browser is attempting to be closed, and they will be notified when it is able to reopen.

Is there a script that can be ran to close Microsoft Edge browser (the chromium one) and then delete its cache and cookies that you all may know of. This is to be run in Edge DX using powershell
The edge browser? I’m sure it’s possible, but if it’s simple, I’m not sure
Looks like its just a matter of clearing two folders: https://chat.openai.com/share/7d9d02aa-c157-452e-8aa1-46e1ef8e214d
Be aware that plenty of other pieces of software use msedge.exe in the background so you can’t just kill it without notifying the user.
I have one that does a check first to see if the browser is open , if it is open it will let the engineers know that the browser is open and to ask the to close it and then to rerun the script
In the works:
to send a notification to the end user to say that we are trying to clear the cache and they need to close it we will let them know once they can open the browser again
