The discussion considered what options are available for providing access to Insights data for third-party users without access to the ControlUp console. While registering in the console is necessary, uploading a CSV file with UPNs can be done with the Login Setup feature in 8.7. Insights will be deprecated soon and, as some customer's security policies can remove accounts if they are not used after a certain amount of time, there is the option of creating a bogus user with an email distribution. There are no limitations on the number of users in ControlUp itself, though some Microsoft licenses may be consumed based on a single AD account.

How to Get Started with ControlUp Products
Chad asked about the ControlUp products Realtime DX, Edge DX, and Scoutbees. These products are used to manage physical and virtual desktops respectively, as well as diagnose issues, automate tasks, measure UC&C engagements, and test SaaS apps. With a 21 day trial of the products, Chad can gain a better understanding of the features. For additional assistance, Chad is encouraged to engage with the Pre-sales team or contact the Support team. Links to helpful resources such as a demo video and getting started guide were shared.

Error “no more connections can be made to this remote computer” while distributing FSLogix AppMasking Rule from VDA
A user reported an error message they had received while attempting to distribute a single FSlogix AppMasking Rule from one VDA to 30+ others. The potential cause of the issue was suggested to be the number of concurrent file sharing connections being limited in Windows desktop OS as a license limit. The ControlUp support team requested some additional information to investigate the issue. The user mentioned they used an SMB share to host their FSlogix rules and GPOs, and copy them locally during gpupdate.

Replacing a Weak SSL Certificate in ControlUp
A customer reported a weak SSL certificate from ControlUp (SHA1, wrong hostname, self-signed) and asked if any issues may surface when switching to a trusted, SHA256 certificate with the correct hostname. It was suggested that the certificate switch should work without any issues, but the current COP version, certificate name, and file were requested for confirmation. It was later established that the certificate deployed with Console, Monitor, and Agent was the culprit, and that the old certificate just needs to be replaced.

Using Insights to View Most CPU & RAM Consuming Applications Over Given Period
A user asked how to view the most CPU and RAM consuming applications for a user on a shared server in a single graph, using only Insights. ControlUp Solve Computer Trends can display this in two charts, but the user would like the same list in a single graph, over a given period, which is not possible with just Insights. A feature request for this has been suggested. The App Trends section can be used to view one process at a time.

Customizing Widgets and New Analytics in ControlUp Solve
The conversation began with customers asking for the ability to filter applications in widgets, blacklisting or whitelisting them. ControlUp is now excluding ControlUp processes and allowing customization of widgets in the upcoming Solve release. In addition, there will soon be a new analytic report for machines with high CPU. Finally, users can use Export-CuQuery to create a workaround to get data on applications crashing or hanging.

Investigating Unusual Behavior on ControlUp VDI’s
ControlUp experienced weird issues in their environment, where VDI's were ignoring all policies and scanning their drive. Microsoft Defender Engine 4.8.2210.6 was identified as the cause and a rebuild was done using the latest 4.8.2211.5 engine to fix it. Other users were asked if they have experienced a similar issue. It was further clarified that the engine was not supposed to be scanning the drives but the process itself was pulling data from the PVS server. Investigations found that most systems couldn't give the version of the process and the instances that did didn't show any spike in I/O.

Combining Remote Display Analyzer and ControlUp
A user asked about combining Remote Display Analyzer (RDA) and ControlUp, and whether questions about hardware encoding can be asked in the discussion. This was similar to a question asked previously with no response. IMO, the two services have different design goals and ControlUp's scope is broader than RDA. However, ControlUp could add some of the RDA metrics if requested by customers.
