How to Create a Trigger Alert for VMware Disabled Pools in ControlUp?
A user asked about creating a trigger alert for VMware disabled pools. They are wondering if it is possible to exclude specific pools from the check. A colleague responded that it is possible using the filter editor and suggested a few options, including using regex, wild cards, exporting and editing the JSON, and using cmdlets to interact with triggers. They also suggested contacting them for a call to discuss options. The cmdlet for building a filternode layout is provided as an example.

Troubleshooting Connection Server Active Connections in ControlUp Desktop Console
A user asked for help locating "HZ Connection Server Active Connections" in the ControlUp desktop console to create a trigger, but it was not available. ControlUp support confirmed it as an internal property and suggested a workaround by creating a trigger on a different metric and then modifying the filter xml to replace it with "HzTotalConnections". Upcoming Feature: Triggering Windows Events with “Information” Type on ControlUp
A user asked if it was possible to trigger windows events with "Information" type, and was informed that this is not currently supported. However, it will be available in a future release and a PowerShell script can be used as a temporary workaround. Another user thanked for the information and asked if there was a feature request submitted for this. The team at ControlUp responded that enhanced log monitoring, including triggers for Information-level events, will be integrated soon and they are looking for partners to help understand use cases. There was a question about adding trending for events and the response clarified this as having a trend analysis for events.

Troubleshooting Connection Between ControlUp EUC and VMWare Horizon 8
A user asked for help connecting ControlUp EUC to their Connection servers after upgrading to Horizon 8 in VMWare environment. They have added the ControlUp servers to the lock.properties file on their connection servers, but still keep running into a 421 error. Other users suggest checking the upgraded CU agent on all data collectors and delivery controllers, as well as checking communication between the console server and connection servers. Horizon 8 version may also play a role in the issue.

Troubleshooting Scheduled Scans on ControlUp
A user was having trouble running a scheduled scan for a specific device on ControlUp. Another user suggested checking if the last connection was successful and found that the VMware Tools update had failed. Upon installing and rebooting the tools, the scan was able to successfully run.

Tips for Decreasing Logon Time on Windows Devices
A team member asked for help in decreasing Windows logon time and requested any blogs or recommendations related to this issue. @member advised that the logon process for physical devices may be affected by AppX packages, but shared tips for optimizing logon duration in VDI environments. ControlUp's Analyze Logon Duration script can also be used for physical devices. Team members shared several links and resources for optimizing logon duration and dealing with AppX packages. Logon time is a key metric in VDI environments and AppX load times can be a bottleneck.
