A user was trying to set up a trigger that would delete profiles older than one day if disk space drops below 10%, but the trigger wouldn’t run. It turned out that it needed to be set up to delete at an exact threshold (e.g., 10%), and not a range (e.g., 9% to 11%). The user enabled an email alert to confirm the CU was picking up the trigger, and adjusted the settings so it would run below their personal threshold.

Hello! This is my first post here, so take it easy on me. I’m trying to setup a trigger that will delete profiles older than one day if the disk space drops below 10%. I believe I have everything setup correctly on the dashboard, but it won’t run. I know the script works, because I can run it manually on servers. Here is what I have setup:
is the trigger firing but not running the script or is the trigger not running? You should see the trigger events in the INCIDENTS tab
I would remove “from this state” since it’s not necessary. I would also set up an email alert to confirm you are getting an alert on it. We always recommend setting up an email alert first to ensure CU is picking it up from the monitor before setting up an automated action.
The trigger is not running at all. Nothing in the INCIDENTS tab either.
I removed the option “from this state” as well and no luck.
What scope did you select? For example machines or folders? Did u enable the email alert to see if you get an email first? Test email alert first.
Scope is folder. I haven’t enabled email alerts yet. I just wanted to test with it on a test server first to see if it would even run.
is this the name of the script action you are using? did you select controlup monitors and controlup admins?
No, it isn’t that script. Where can I specify these settings?
I found it. I’m going to try it with that script. Thanks!
I can get that scrip to run manually. Same with my script. I just can’t get them to run with my triggers.
I was able to get this to work finally! So the trigger won’t work unless the threshold is exact. For example, I had my threshold set to delete older profiles (1 day or older) if the disk space drops below 55% (my test server was at 56%). I copied over some files to take up some more space and the trigger finally kicked off. So if you set your trigger to run at a certain percentage, that percentage threshold has to be the exact amount as your trigger. It’s not smart enough to know if it’s already below the percentage.
I’m glad you got it to work! You may want to adjust these settings. You can set it to at a certain % and above or below your personal threshold. see example below.
