A user had issues with using ControlUp Academy configured with SAML and being able to access their account. Support suggests using previous username and password to change the default group for SAML login, and if issues persist, to contact support to reset SAML. In response, a question was raised about SAML automatically assigning admin rights if the email address is the same, to which support replied in the affirmative.

Question – App.controlup.com was configured for our company today, and it was configured SAML. So, I can log in with my SAML account, however I have access to nothing.
When I try to log in with my "true" controlup account – I’m an organization owner in the Console, I get the prompt for 2FA, then it asks me for either my SAML account (which has no rights) or to log in with a username or password (which I don’t have anymore, since Controlup uses 2fa for all my logins).
Am I stuck in no mans land? How do I reconcile the two?
Username password can still be used and if you login with the creds you used before setting up saml you can change the default group for saml accounts. If you fail to access via that please open a support ticket to have the saml reset
To understand this, if a user had ControlUp Admin inside of the console before app.controlup.com was configured. They would now need SAML to assign them admin on their SAML login correct? Is there a way to have the user login using SAML and that connect to the pre-existing console account that they had that was admin if using the same account name?
If saml provides the same email addresses the user would get the admin rights
